Default V70 SAT NAV

My 02 v70 does not have sat nav. I realise from the dealer that the cost of installing it now would be prohibitive. I have a couple of questions how is it controlled? Is it through the HU stereo. Is there an aftermarket system which can be fitted in the same location as the Volvo screen. Does anyone know where there are close up pictures of the sat nav and contols? And finally anyone interested in selling or aware of where a second hand unit might be?

Thanks

Nick

P.S thanks to all those who posted on the ergonomics. I now have a £3.00 anti slip mat in place and it works perfectly.

There exists a wide range of aftermarket solutions.

I use a pocket PC based system which works very well.

Have a look at www.pocketgps.co.uk.

Also, the TomTom "GO" might be of interest (www.tomtom.com).

Hello All

I am at present using a pocket pc made by Medion it gives you turn by turn voice instructions and also shows you a map at the same time. And it can be moved from car to car? All that is required is a cigarette lighter socket to power it and it comes with an excellent stick on holder so it doesn’t bounce about. I purchased mine from Halfords for £399.00 and it is absolute fantastic it will get you anywhere in Europe. The best thing about this it has since come down in price plus you can also get the very same item from aldi. Unfortunately they have only had it on offer twice but the good news is it was cheaper than Halfords it cost about £270.00, you could always check the web site because I have heard that Halfords have also reduced the price.

Have a look at them.

All the best

Mick
Ps

I have also installed a program from the internet that runs at the same time with the maps that warns you about fixed speeding cameras and also possible sites from mobile money pinchers. It is called a points of interest program that also tells you of a multitude of different things. It also runs with tomtom. If any one wants the address of the site contact me on Michael.seddon@ntlworld.com

ps for the second time have a look on ebay

Medion MDPPC250 GPS SAT Nav PDA 320mb ram this one is going for £250.00 with a day and a half left and no one else is bidding on it.

Is the V70 satnav the same as used in the XC90 that someone is saying only uses the first part of the postcode?
I guess you want the Volvo system so the screen disappears when you park the car, rather than carrying it round or putting it in the boot?

If I was interested in the V70 satnav itself, I'd go to a dealer and play with the system there...feign interest in buying a V70.
