Can you tell me what this part is and where it goes?

I found this in my V40 (see photos). Volvo Part No is 308 88 586.

Does anybody know what it is and where it goes please?

Looks like a cover that goes on top of the bolt securing the front seats. It is the outer rear bolt near the B-pillar

If you have the actual part then the part number is present. Ask a dealer.

(Not meant to be rude but it reads a bit abrupt - sorry.)

You were quite right gatos. It was the front seat rear bolt cover under the drivers seat near the pillar. Thank you kindly. You saved me a costly travel to the Dealer, and after all that's what these forums are for - being helpful to fellow Volvo owners in this forum.
