850 T5-R auto gearbox
I have found several drips of oil on my garage floor and located the source - the gearbox seal.
Can anyone advise me how complicated this is to fix? My local independent specialist has quoted me many hours of labour (dropping suspension, exhaust etc) just to replace a simple seal. I am sure he is right but wanted to make sure before I agree to the work. |

If the oil is coming from the half moon underneath where the gearbox meets engine then it is more than likely the rear crank seal, same job which is about a days work in a garage to fit an £8 part if it's a manual and hasn't had a clutch then i would suggest getting that done at the same time. If it is the crank seal then the PCV will need changing aswell as thats normally the reason they blow
Out of curiosity how much has he quoted?
