Default Headlight Washers Not Working Please Help

Hi
Could any one out there help me out on a problem i have. my car is a volvo V50 SE sport 2006 diesel. I have recently fitted some genuine Volvo headlight washers, i tested the high pressure pump before fitting and it works fine.I have removed the short wiring loom from the windscreen washer pump and the level sensor to the 6 pin connector under the o/s/f head light and replaced it with the correct wiring loom so all pumps and level sensor are now connected, washer bottle is full, yep you guessed it headlight washers don't work. The headlights are switched to the main beam and dipped beam position.Found the headlight washer jet fuse in the fuse box under the bonnet 20 amp its fine and there is a live feed there so what am i missing? Is there a relay required or is a soft wear up date any help would be appreciated
many thanks Pistonhead

You need to check if there is power to the pump when the washers are sprayed,

also the headlight washers only work once every 5 times the lever is operated or if lever is held on for longer than a few seconds,
