don't worry any decent garage can remove them reasonably cheaply
and I understand halfords (and places like) sell tools to remove locking wheel nuts .

I dropped my 480 off to a garage one day and didn't collect the locking key
I ended up getting the old set removed and a new set put on
You should push the seller for a cash donation though

Here's what happened when i bought a car without a locking nut...

http://www.volvoforums.org.uk/showth...king+wheel+nut

http://www.volvoforums.org.uk/showth...hlight=cardiff

http://www.volvoforums.org.uk/showthread.php?t=21028

jist of the story... dont go to cardiff volvo to ask them to remove them with force (welding a nut onto the studs) as cardiff volvo cant guarantee that your car wont catch fire!!!

try the volvo dealer they may have the number of the locking nut... but when i tried them they didnt keep the numbers on system for security. i found a mcguard piece of paper with the service book that had the number of the locking key on it.

Depending on the stlye of the locking nut, the easiest way is to get an old socket that is just a fraction too small to fit over the locking nut. Grab the nearest hammer and I'm sure you can guess the rest.

I've had to do this once before when I left the key on one of the nuts and went for a drive. I couldn't find it anywhere so had to use the above technique, only to have my sister come back from work 5 mins later saying "I found this at the end of the driveway - is it yours?"

Luckily the locking nuts were hardly damaged and the key still fits fine.

Hi,

You could always buy a set of new locking wheelnuts that have the same key.
Check the key nut pattern with those at halfrauds..

Default locking wheelnut key

if the locking wheel nuts are factory fitted, your dealer will have the key number on record and will be able to obtain a new key for you, this would be a better proposition as you are at less risk of damaging the wheel with a removal tool

unfortunately dealers don't have records of the locking wheel nut key numbers available even if factory fitted. they were fitted pretty much at random at the factory. as there are only 10 different combinations some dealers will stock the keys ( i have all combinations on the shelf).
if not they can obtain a set of keys on loan from volvo in order to identify your key number. some dealers may charge for this service though!
