tomtom
hi all!
i have tomtom navigator 3 on my pda, and i can get hold of tomtom 6. Is it possible to have 2 versions of tomotm on a pda? I have confidence in tomtom3 as i've had it for a few years, so in the event 6 messed up when i was out and about i could revert back to 3. thanks in advance! Hey... with the RAC insurance, you get a discount if you have sat nav!!! |

Hi,
Wouldn't it be easier to install it on a seperate memory card, and that way you will not affect your current TT3 install. Memory cards ain't that expensive these days and you only need a 1 or 2 gb card.. Des. . .

Hi,
I'm just thinking about this. All the files are onthe memory card. But when installed, does the install process copy files to the main memory of the phone/pda? And would that not upset the previous install?? I have a sneaky suspicion that it did on my Sony, but that is not a windows device it is Symbian/UIQ... I wouldn't worry though as TT6 is pretty reliable, so long as you engague your brain too... See previous posts on GPS navigation errors! Des. . .

thanks guys!
when i tried to install tomtom 5 it wiped off tomtom3. I tried a few times to install it as a 2nd file, but i cudnt do it. probably me just not knowing what im doing! I think it installs onto the actual pda, and its just the maps that are installed onto the memory card, unless anyone else knows different. |

It does install the main application and other support files (voice) it needs into the main memory of the PDA. Also writes various entries to the registry. The folder structure is basically the same between the various versions of TT and that basically stops you from running two versions concurrently.
