Default Carburettor oil

I brought my 1800 69' from Sweden last year but forgot to bring the oil for my Stromberg Carburettors. Asking around in the UK today I was told that everyone uses 3-in-one ? Is that really so?

With SU carbs we always used either the same grade engine oil that the car used or hydraulic fluid. The hydraulic fluid gives a slightly faster response.

All the best, Peter

On the Amazon Cars website they recommend using ATF in SUs as it doesn't change viscosity with temperature so much. I still run engine oil in mine at the moment so can't feedback on the effects first hand.

Whilest looking for something else on Holden I found this 'special' branded SU oil that might be of interest:

Have been using ATF for years on austins and volvos with SU and pierberg cars - suits them well. 3 in 1 is too thin.
