Default LPTJoe And the Mystery Of The Washer Bottle Bleed Nipple.

Picture the scene, I'm filling up my washer bottle with a winter mix and then.... Shock, a puddle seems to be emerging underneath the car

As I look down I can see that it's coming from this 'nipple' that sits to the rear of the washer bottle directly in between the small filter on the left and the electrical connection on the right....

Surely that's mean to to have a pipe or hose connected to it? If so, where should it lead to?

I shall award no less than 1000 internet to anyone who can help me to untangle this riddle and assist me in my quest

Thanks in advance chaps!

It may be where the vent hose attaches. If so, the other end is just open under the inside top edge of the wing. The hose may have perished and fallen off or been removed at some stage. The additional height provided by the hose would prevent fluid from leaking out.

I've not long sorted out my washer system LPTJoe, on my car there is a rubber hose attached to the area where you have a hole, from memory it's around 4" long and currently just sticks up, but thinking back it was tucked in somewhere. As Forrest says, there should be a vent hose there.

I used a spare screw to block the hole. The filler neck provides a vent.

I ran 500mm of 8mm bore clear PVC hose from this up towards the suspension turret.

Originally as someone else mentioned, it's a straight length of pipe about 4-5" long that just stands straight up.

I find running it along the inner wing works well and avoids most spillage.
