To be honest I don't feel I can recommend them.
I did set aside a day to do the install soon after it arrived, but on examining the contents of the box and the installation instructions I discovered that there were two further cables not in the box (stereo phono, at least a foot long, one MM>MM the other MM>FF) that are required to connect the AUX input to the Bluepower unit, and the Bluepower unit to the AUX input of the factory High-Performance unit. Disappointing that having gone to the trouble of asking me which system I have they ship me the $600 unit with the instructions telling me what I need but leave me to source two extra cables that shouldn't cost even a $1 each at wholesale. I do have a bunch of M>M cables lying around, but the only M>F I have is 15ft long - far too much to hide behind the glove box, and one I do use occasionally so I wasn't willing to cut it up. After a couple of hours running around it became obvious that it is no longer possible to purchase one locally (oh how I miss Radio Shack), so I ordered it same day from Amazon. It didn't arrive until 7:58pm (by 8pm as promised), far too late to start on the install . Since then I've not really had the time and inclination to tackle the project, my buyers remorse has been slowly growing, and this news just about finished me off |

Sorry
Worse one I had was upgrading my PC. Spent £350 on a new processor and the next month Intel did a surprise drop on their latest chip that nobody expected. That really p*ssed me off. |

I should be used to it by now...
Apple always time their new product launches for about ten days after I buy one... I just dismantled my 1999 $5,000 46" High-def rear projection TV because it was taking up too much room to be an effective tool shelf in the garage and too big for the bin men to take away... don't get me started on BetaMax... HD-DVD... |

I came across this myself whilst looking for a headhunt for my S40. I'm new to Volvo's and this forum.
Is there really no reasonable alternative to the BLP-990A? I'd like to think it would be possible to get another (any) double din device in here, but from what I've read it seems out of the question for someone of my ability and budget; not to mention the aesthetics drawbacks.

Yes, the BLP-990 has always been, and now the (A) is just about the only viable replacement unit.
Among the problems you'll encounter, even if you do manage to cram another double DIN unit in there, is you'll have to find a new home for the ICM so that you can use the climate controls and see the climate display, and your steering wheel and console controls won't work. |
