Those on my 854 Turbo were still working after 18 years and 500000 km. But they did lose height overnight, compared to when new.

I've tried to find the part number but I washed done damper and no sign of it. I don't want to remove it until I have the replacement! Bit like chicken and egg.

Just been to FRF Volvo to buy a pair of wiper blades on the C3 account. £31.92 that is a 30% discount!
They said I need to change the pair of Nivomats. Some, they said could be changed individually but not these. They gave me a price of £662 odd for the pair, a discount of 25%. Just as parts. Then went to the MOT garage. They advised that the shocker was performing OK and to leave it until the next MOT, next November. My feeling is to replace the pair with a pair of Monroes or Bilsteins. Anyone any experience of this? Will the ECU detect it? |

As far a I know, only 4C shocks have any electrical connection to the car.

There looks to be an electrical cable to the unit.

I notice the car in question here is a 2012, just like mine. My car has Nivomat. Standard shock absorbers don't fit, due to different mount dimension. The car has to be modified if you want to change system.
The correct modification includes new springs and some members in the rear axis multilink assembly. |

Hi,
It may well be worthwhile visiting a dealer to find out what, exactly, you are supposed to have fitted to your vehicle.... Supposition and guessing are not going to help.. Des. . .

I have been to the dealer and they recommend 2 new Nivomats at £662 the pair.

I suspect that will be cheaper than modifying the car to accept simple shocks and it will continue to provide you with the self leveling capability.
