Hi guys I want to know is there any chemical which must be added to the dpf filter of Volvo S40 2.0D 2009. like "adBlue" or there's nothing like that ? because im little bit confused about that.

and will the delphi diagnostic tool can access the soot content of my car ?

( there's no any problem just I want to take care before goes wrong )

I think your car would require Eloys Fluid.

Re soot content, I asked the same Q at my garage and was told that information doesn't come up on the diagnostics. Available on some non-Volvo cars apparently, not on my C30.

The smaller Volvo diesel engines need Eolys fluid because they don't get hot enough to burn the soot in the DPF - but the larger engines do.

We need Eolys in our 1.6D. I didn't need it in my D5. Probably your 2.0D doesn't need it either, but I am not an expert.

Is Eolys not the same as Adblue?

No. Eolys is oil based and Adblue is water based. Pretty sure Eolys is injected into fuel and Adblue injected into the exhaust but either way, you can't and shouldn't use one in a system designed for the other.

Correct, very different things. EOLYS fluid is dosed into the fuel and causes the soot to burn off at a lower temperature in the DPF filter. It was a bit of a bodge job early DPF and has now been completely replaced by "dry" systems like the D5 has.

AdBlue is injected into the exhaust where a Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) device uses it to reduce NoX emissions.
