So I've got a 2.5 D5 2004 V70 with the dreaded ECM6805 (which only rears its head at high revs). When I put my foot down, there's a definite second or two pause before anything much at all happens. Can anyone say - is this to be expected or is to linked with the ECM6805 thing? I'm wondering how much time and money to throw at ECM6805 and whether to just live with it.

Thanks!

Hi The D5 is a 2.4 not a 2.5,
anyway the car uses a VNT turbo, it should respond very fast, no lag,
If the car is a 163 bhp ,
get a mightyvac vacuum pump, so you can run some tests,
you need to test if the vnt actuator is working,
if all pipes and engine mounts are good, I would say the vnt assembly in the turbo is not moving and needs cleaning,
there is videos on youtube about this as it is very common,
if you take to Volvo they will try and sell you a new turbo,
Dave

Now that we are talking about turbos. Today i saw on my XC70 D5 (163hp) that on the tube that comes out of the engine to the egr valve there is burned oil leaking. There is no smoke on my car, or engine light on. i have cleaned my egr like 2 months ago, and 4 weeks ago i have replaced the vacuum pump.
Any ideas?
Many thanks

The hoses to and from the EGR cooling chamber take a set on the inside where they sit on the ridges of the plenum chamber. If they don't go back fairly close to the original place or the clips are in the wrong place, they will leak. First time I cleaned mine out I had oil running all the way down to the intercooler and dripping on the cross member below. Thought I had blown the cooler for a bit

So you are talking about the rings that hold that big rubber hose in place? Is it natural to have oil or at least some liquid oil inside that hose?

Back to the OP's question: is the car auto or manual? It will help to know a few more details about when you 'put your foot down', such as what speed you're travelling at and in what gear? The acceleration should be relatively lag-free, but if it's an auto, there will probably be kick-down and some changing of gears involved before the engine is going to apply full power.

Yes, oil is normal in there.
