Battery below threshold
I have found the battery, it is larger and different to the one mentioned in a previous thread. It is still a 6 volt lithium manganese dioxide and I tested it disconnected and recorded 6.3 volts, so battery seems okay. I am hoping once I reassemble everything and reset in vida that my problem will be solved.
We will see. |

Also i should have mentioned that this battery is in the phone module unit situated beneath the centre console and accessed once the radio/heating controls unit is removed, there is a black plastic cover which can be un-clipped from the top of the phone module and the battery resides under a metal bracket.
Thanks for the replies, I think I may have missed the "fitted new battery option" before so maybe that's where I stumbled last time. |

Hi All, very interesting reading. I've taken ownership of 2007 xc90 and have only two fault codes, and one other issue to sort(no AM in radio module, FM and FM1 working perfectly). One Rear Parking Sensor service required, and the aforementioned On Call Service Required.
SO, I called the 'On Call' people at Volvo (via customer Services) assumed that the car's or the previous owner/owners had failed to renew subscription. They said, no problem, I paid the subscription two years - why not seemed reasonable - They said take it into local Volvo dealer and they would set it up - for no charge. So appointment booked, took car in they "ummed" and "rr'd" tested vehicle said PHM fault won't clear, £1403.28 to replace so I nearly fell over, said not really worth it on 11 year old car, at least they pointed out which parking sensor was faulty so have ordered one of those, I'll spray it up and fit it myself(as mine are self coloured). So I'm wondering two things? 1. Could it be the battery dead/voltage misread. Happy to check this and replace- If so where can I get a new one? 2. Or replace the unit (there's a few on ebay for sensible money) but, will I need to have it coded to the car and/re-set via VIDA (which I don't have). We're an Apple Mac based household and I can't really be bothered to pay fro a DICE/VIDA set up running on bootcamp or sim. PS I have phone in the car built in which works perfectly fine. Oh and any info on radio AM issue gratefully received. |

Are you sure you know why you renewed the subscription to the security part of ON-CALL ? The safety section is free and always active … you are highly unlikely to get a second hand PHM unit to work due to the cars network security system . The AM issue , If there is no noise whatsoever coming from the radio when on AM it is an internal Ladder filter fault . If you get hissing etc then the aerial side needs looking at .

That's a crazy price to fix parking sensors , a whole new kit is just over £200 last time I remember fitting one . Fitting park assist pilot to the new volvos costs £1000 it involves fitting 6 additional sensors and front and back bumpers have to come off .

I read on here that Jaguar parking sensors are the same as the Volvo ones but much cheaper but not sure if that is just for newer models.

Clan,
Thank you for the response. Could I replace an element of the radio with a donor part./spare head? I managed to find some sensors on ebay £8.00 if its not compatible no great loss! I'll report back on that repair! Thanks again for all help. Is it possible to retro fit front sensors? If I can find donor parts on ebay? Assume it must be reasonably easy?? |
