Default C30 ADM Tank Replacement

Hi all

My mothers Volvo C30 1.6 Diesel has started showing error code ecm203a on her dash.
This is after having the DPF filter and pipes replaced, at a dealership (about £1k), a couple of months ago for showing the same error code.

Having taken it back to the dealership they are saying that the car now needs a new additive tank as well as refilling of the system due to a faulty level sensor. As well as a software update, that a local garage said he couldn't do. Including this work would mean she would spend more than the cars worth this year repairing it

Could the Level sensor in the tank be replaced/repaired?

I was wondering if buying a used tank from a lower mileage C30 that's being broken for parts and fitting that and then getting the £415 dealership one?

I also have a friend who is a mechanic who says he is able to read and clear Volvo codes with software his garage pay Volvo for, is this likely to work and if not what would a dealer charge for the software update?

Thanks

i would be pushing it with the dealer before spending another penny , given the circumstances (same error code) and the amount recently spent on the recent 'repair'. Good luck
