Default boot lid not opening s40 2011

today I have problem that bootlid not opening but has warning on dash saying bootlid open ???. any tips or advice before tackling would be grateful thanks. switch,,,lock,,,,fuse,,,, wiring,,,, {hope its not}

Its usually the loom broken where the lid goes up and down there is a black multi plug tucked up under the hat shelf on the left side and it goes into the boot lid its a reasonable price ... £ 30 last time i bought one .. all the wires are black ...on the boot part of the loom

I had this happen last month to my 2011 S40, was the wiring loom. Got one from a dealer and fitted it on about an hour using this guide https://www.volvoforums.org.uk/showt...ot+wiring+loom

thank you for step guide. was wondering the photo where carpet trim removed... what does the shorter go , is it a plug. looks like I round grommet. suppose ill bit bullet get new one, but boot still not open. is there only one harness for this found 1 with part number 30724788

hi all, got harness fitted today all good , thanks again for guide,but upon finish noticed one of bulbs in reg plate had blew, could this have caused the harness to temp malfunction, ie just put new bulb instead of harness mmm. just a thought
