M66 oil leak
Hi,
I changed the transmission oil, as with no recorded service history since 2015 and 236k on the clock it was due. The engine undertray was thick with oil/dirt and the transmission itself was coated in oil. After opening the plug, only 500ml of old oil drained out, and it took 1.9L of new oil to fill which is correct according to the spec in VIDA. So it's likely been leaking and low for some time. After about a week since changing it, I found a small patch of oil under the car so the leak is still present and wasn't the plug as I had hoped. Is there any common/expected points to check on this transmission? |

If you're certain that it's transmission oil, check around both driveshaft seals for wetness.

I think from looking at it that the seals might be the source, I'll clean the whole area up and then check to see where oil appears.

It smells of transmission oil but maybe theres more than one leak on the go here, I've included a few more photos with a wider angle.
