Hello, does anyone know much info and where to get our ECU's for these cars.

It looks like my ECU is giving up, the car still works fine and everything but my mapper now cannot connect to the ECU which is a bit odd. He has tried everything to try and get a connection and apparently the ECU just will not connect at all.

I didnt know if there was a difference between the prefacelift ECU and the facelift, so I ordered one from ebay off a 2007 T5 model and that didnt go down well. Apparently the car hated it and it just didnt work, so I guess these ECU's must be slightly different for the facelift.

So just wondering if anyone knows anything on this? or where we could purchase replacement ECU's? I havent tried the dealers yet as I am just assuming they will be quite a bit pricey.

If anyone knows a breaking facelift T5 model as well, that would help.

That's unusual, an ECU will normally outlive any car.

The only instances I've heard of when not being able to communicate with the ECU has been an external 'mechanical' issue like bent pins on the multi-plug or damaged wiring loom etc.

I would have thought the ECU would be Coded to the car and the Body Control Unit thing in the passenger footwell (the name escapes me whilst tying this) I would imagine some Volvo-Specific trickery down at the dealers to get a replacement ECU to work?

Have to spoken to BBA Reman? I think they would seem a good place to enquire.

Yeh I think mines more unique, it didnt help that a claimed volvo reputable specialist mapper did a poor job which I feel he must out left the ECU in bad condition as there was water ingress after getting the car back from him.

I havent tried any ECU specialist yet but I ordered a 2007 T5 ECU to clone onto but the car really didnt like that ECU. Had no idea there was a difference between these. Trying to find a facelift T5 ECU is like gold dust.
