Working OBD2 interface/ torque/other app

Anybody with a euro4 diesel had a working setup?
If yes: With what hard/software?

For the EUIII D5 rather than EUIV but I've had a selection running:

Cheapo fleabay USB ELM327 OBD connector running with PCMScan and few other bits of similar software from , ahem, "various web sources". PMCScan looged D5 boost via MAP sensor OK. Didn't really spend much time with it though.

Currently have a cheapo ELM327 bluetooth dongle doodad that talks to Torque Pro on my HTC Desire. More for messing about than anything serious. Not tempted yet to try to clear any codes as there have been a few threads where this has gone wrong and at any rate I have the VCT/Vida combo for "proper" diagnostics/logging when required. Still, Torque is useful for showing a few live bits of data.

Thing is, what do want it for? If it's for cheapo (visible) logging (for example boost without having to install a boost physical gauge) then a cheap bluetooth adapter plus Torque is acceptable.

Anything more serious (code clearing, etc) I'd save your pennies and get a DiCE and Vida. They are cheap enough and convenient even with a laptop (more so than the bulky VCT, to the extent I might get a DiCE myself and trade in the VCT).

I have a Euro 4 2.0d and found Engine Link on the iPhone to be rubbish. That was with the ELM 327 obd from eBay, the same obd worked fine with Torque on a tablet and on a Galaxy Note 2.

I then bought a wifi obd by V-Gate, around £35, which has Bluetooth and Wifi, this has been faultless with DashCommand from Palmer Performance. You can spot it easily on eBay as it is white.

I had to buy two ELM 327's to get a working one!

You get what you pay.

The V Gate one feels more robust and came with a disc for use on a laptop.

And some instructions.

Dash Command is also available on Android. Not sure of the cost but it was around £30 on the iPhone.

i have a ELM 327 and iphone with dash command and it works great on our euro iv and has on other cars too.
the only probs i had was connecting the elm to my iphone for the 1st time, something to do with a static ip or something? but im not technically minded and followed instructions off the net and managed it.

I'm using a elm Bluetooth dongle and torque. The free version of torque is rubbish. It doesn't show any codes. Worth buying the full version for 3 quid. For a total of a tender you can't go wrong. Gives you peace of mind

Known bug with HTC stuff.

Open Torque

Menu button > Torque settings > General preferences > Hang Fix for HTC/Samsung - check enabled button.

What a belated comment, anyway, just FYI, I've got a launch creader vii plus (https://www.obdadvisor.com/launch-cr...i-plus-review/), and it works like it was created for Volvo, the only cons is it doesn't support ios. Besides, not really cheap, but it worth the price
