Mines a D5 with Polestar & it's showing as 39.2Mpg currently on the In-Car display (which I know isn't 100%)

I last reset the counter 9,369 miles ago & in those miles my avg speed is logged as 42.2.

Most of the miles are Motorway/
fast A roads

Ok so mine is not Polestar (yet) but thought I’d add to this useful thread:

MY2013 D4 AWD Manual 163bhp 2.4 litre 5 pot
80% motorways and A roads
20% town/county
Cruise Control - 65mph
45-46 mpg

Note this is with Shell V-Power, usual supermarket stuff gives me 41-42, tyres around 37-38 psi. Wheels are 235/55/R18

Looking to upgrade to Polestar after next service, as long as the cam belt doesn’t need doing!

Mine's also not P* but currently 43mpg on computer. It's a 67 D4 190 FWD and the consumption has until recently been 39-40 - worse than my last 163 FWD XC60 which was always around 42ish.

I don't drive it much but noticed that it seems to be less efficient in 6th gear around 50-65mph than in 5th. Mentioned it to OH and she now keeps it in 5th more often and MPG has improved. 3500 miles around Italy this summer averaged around 43. Anecdotal but I think the 6th gear is a little too long and causes the car to labour more than it should.

Tyres can make 1-2mpg - I noticed this improvement when swapping Pirelli Scorpion Verde (not all season) for Nokian Weatherproofs.

Interesting replies, thanks all.

Managed 35mpg on the last tank, will have to give it a bit longer as it's only had 3 fill ups since I bought it.

Might have to try it on V power too and see how much better that is, normally I just use supermarket fuel as it's easier to get.

Mines usually run on whatever is closest when I start a journey, a lot of the time supermarket fuel (as it's closest to home & £5 morrisons vouchers help).

I've not run a couple of tanks of V-Power through it yet to see if it makes a difference maybe I'll do that for the next few tanks.

Interesting so what speed in 6th is most efficient? 70/75/80?

Not sure where nearest shell garage is mostly run Sainsbury’s fuel as best price and pass frequently some times Asda or esso/BP.....

18 conti at the moment nokian on 17”rims for winter and the change in circumference May effect the computer.....

Got around to checking the tyre pressures yesterday, most of them down at 30psi! So much for the Volvo selekt check that gets done before you buy the car!

Will see if that makes a difference and report back.

that should make a big difference Eddy!

I'd suggest the low pressure would take 2-3mpg off your average

I hope you're claiming the difference back from HMRC. If you're not aware, there's a form you can submit to claim the difference from the 45p rate per mile.

I do mine through my annual tax return and just get the money paid back to me as a small bonus
