Default V70 2008 D5 Auto Ignition issue

1st post on any forum so please bear with me.

My V70 automatic had a control stalk issue. Went in for normal service. Immediately after service problems started with ignition. Push key fob in and the car would not recognise it or do anything. Need to press again to eject and push back in before car recognises key fob and engine starts with the follow on push. Problem occurs mostly on first start of the day but not always or exclusively. I have had the control stalk replaced but problem still persists as unlikely to be connected??

My Volvo dealer has said he has not come across this one before so I can see a lot of expense investigating the problem before a simple answer is found.

BTW, have replaced batteries in key fob and spare fob and tried both fobs.

Any ideas?

Have you tried using the spare key?

In theory if its "plugged in" the dealer should be able to read when and what happened at the time of non-start. Be worth getting it plugged in to see what fault codes exist in the first instance.

So I should make a note of dates/times when the problem happens and then take the car in with those notes for them to match to their readouts? Do I need to take it to the Volvo garage or would my local garage be able to access any fault codes?

PS, remember fishing off Bangor pier when I was a boy back in early 70s. What a wonderful place!
