Used to have a manual 960, they're rarer than the auto's but not super rare.. Not a bad price though, shame the pictures in the ad are crap, cant tell anything from them other than what colour it is..

I had a manual 960. I scrapped it and used the parts to build my 240 T5.

They didn't used to be rare but since most have been pillaged for their gearboxes and sent to the states where they make good coin, they aren't common now. Finding a Whiteblock m90 is really hard and a manual 960 not much easier

Is it feasible to adapt another gearbox to the whiteblock?

I have done something like this with a Smallblock 350 and a Westminster box in a Hotrod. It basically involves a sandwich plate bolted to the block, to which the gearbox also bolts. Works fine with all that torque.

The starter seems to be the problem with the whiteblock as it is bolted to the bellhousing, but maybe a section sliced from an M56 850 box would work?
Volvo 240 boxes are pretty tough and available still. Ford boxes too, perhaps the Type 5 Granada heavy box , which shares the clutch splines profile with an M47, or a type 9 from a V6.They are probably more pricey than an M90 though.
Thinking outside the box, as it were. Any ideas?

The only factory fit manual 960 was the 2.5. The 3.0 24v was never offered with a manual gearbox sadly.

Should have done it, with the S80 T6 engine too. But they went all transverse and lost the plot.
