XC60 MY19 Recall Notification - Tailgate Struts May Freeze

Received a Vehicle Safety Recall Notice through the post this morning.

"Under certain conditions in cold climates, the tailgate struts may freeze."

Notice goes onto explain that Volvo are currently developing an improved version of the tailgate strut and they will be in touch again once available to be fitted.

Mine were done this week after having had 2 sets fail due to ice damage. It was just good timing that the new version was made available just before my car went in. They do look quite different and are a little noisier and perhaps a touch slower but do the job fine.

So, in fact, they are already available.

They did bang a bit when opening from frozen yesterday but stayed in one piece.
