Default Hockey Stick BUmper Trim Procedure

Hi! I'm new to this section of the forum having owned Amazons for years, now with a 240 GLT 1989

I'm having a hell of a job putting all the sol called hockey stick trim back on the back.

Is there a correct procedure?

It all just pops off as soon as I fit it!

The trim itself has to be in perfect condition. If it has the slightest kink it will as you say just pop off the moment you try to engage the last fixing.
Are you using new fixings? Old ones likewise have to be in perfect condition.

If it's only one that comes loose then I've sometimes resorted to putting a drop of super glue on it and holding in place until set.

Check that the connector piece clips together properly. It's like trying ro join a section of toy train track when the lugs have got bent.

You would be advised to buy new body clips from Volvo.

Quite expensive at over a pound each but worth it. Trims hard to source.

I also used some adhesive.

Thank you! I have new clips, but the trims aren't great.

This may help:~

Place the trim against the body in the correct location and push down into the clip. Waxoyl on the clips & the underside of the trim helps (or copper slip)

As mentioned the trim is probably misshapen on the holding sections but these can be repaired as above- a little heat will aid the shaping of the plastic etc.

Sometimes the body clips can be very tight- ease open a "little" with a flat blade.
Bob.

After struggling and struggling, it turns out one of the corner pieces that I was trying to fit to the rear was actually a front piece making the whole lot too big. As it turns out too, when I paid closer inspection to the front, a rear piece had been fitted there too causing a gap between it and the centre section.

Thank you for the guidance on using a little glue in combination with the clips.
