Is there any official Volvo options, eg packs, or BLIS, auto parking etc etc that can be added aftermarket officially?

I know CarPlay can be added for £300, wonder if anything else can? I presume a lot is built in but disabled software wise?

Is there a way to get them unlocked? Obviously at a cost.

Things that I'm aware of include:

Apple Car Play / android
Phone charger pad
Reversing Camera (not 3D)
Parking sensors
Towbar
Tempa Spare Wheel
Under bonnet insulation panel
Folding boot floor

Things that I've been told they can't / won't retrofit include:

BLIS
3D cameras
Active cruise control
Piot Assist
Folding rear headrests
Under seat storage
Active radiator grille shutters
Supercharged V8 engine (I wish)

VERY disappointed mine only has the standard cruise control. I loved the adaptive cruise in my XC60 and used it regularly. I'd be interested in retro fit if it were available.

Same here. My old XC60 was fully loaded (ex-demo). Unfortunately, chip shortages meant that some options were hard to find last year. I also really miss BLIS, especially on the motorway.

The thing I really wanted on my XC40 that I didn’t have on my last car was the 3D camera. I had to settle for a reversing camera instead.

I had a front camera on my XC60 and the V60 I had before that, which provided a split view at 90 degrees left and right. Great when joining a road with lots of parked cars. I used it every day. This was dropped in 2017 so not available anymore.

You think/know if there are aftermarket options?

Every car I’ve owned since the early 80s has had under bonnet sound insulation, except for my XC40, so I felt a bit deprived. My thinking was they wouldn’t have gone to the expense of designing and fitting these panels if they didn’t serve any purpose.

So I asked my Volvo dealer parts dept for a price. Their computer said there wasn’t a insulation panel for my car, but when I gave them the part number (31442796) they gave me a price of £217. In the end I bought a very clean used one from eBay for £64 and some clips for a couple of quid. It literally took 2 minutes to fit.

TBH, I’m not sure how much difference it’s made. As you say, it’s already a quiet engine and I have a very gentle right foot which keeps the revs low most of the time. Having said that, Bentleys and Rollers have extremely quiet engines and they have a massive amount of engine bay insulation. I think it’s more to do with suppressing frequency resonance, rather than actual engine noise.

I imagine D3 and D4 used to come with it from the factory.

There was a lot of discussion on another forum earlier this year where some people were adamant it was only standard on diesel models. I don’t want to start another bun fight, but my understanding is that it was fitted to ALL engines (including B4) until around October 2021. There were many owners of petrol engined XC40s on the forum that confirmed that their XC40 had under bonnet insulation. As I said in an earlier post, I believe it’s more to do with the bonnet resonating than suppressing sound coming from the engine (but I’m not an acoustics expert, so I may be wrong).

What I can say with certainty is that all the Volvos I’ve owned in the past (petrol and diesel) had under bonnet insulation fitted. I chose to add it to my XC40 because I wanted to and I could do so easily.
