This is where the problems often are. To get the heated seats working it'll need programming by a Volvo dealer, and it's been said here that it won't work because the software will detect it's not the properly coded climate unit.

Do all your lower dash buttons work, e.g. DSTC, alarm and any extras fitted?

Update.. everything worked apart from the heated seats, just out of curiosity I plugged my old unit back in.. and it worked perfectly.. so obviously there was a gremlin in the system, my thinking is that by putting in a different unit then replacing mine it had to re-program mine!! can't think of anything else it could be.. so the outcome is that mine is working perfect and the breaker will take the 2nd hand unit back.. just wanted to thank all of you guys for your help and advice. These forums saved me a lot of expense (volvo quoted me £400 for a new unit plus labour and vat etc). Thankyou all.

Good news, that's a trick well worth remembering!
