Question Unable to play custom-burnt DVDs

Hello

New to this forum and tried unsuccessfully to search - apologies if this is a duplication.

Recently purchased a 2010 XC90 Executive with single DVD RSE system. Shop-purchased DVDs play fine, but DVDs I have burnt (legitimately!) as a copy for the car do not. The same DVDs play fine on laptops, portable players, other players etc.

Has anyone else experienced issues playing DVDs that you burn yourself in a Volvo RSE system?

Advice / 'here's why you're an idiot' welcomed!

Thanks - very much appreciate the response.

I also found elsewhere online that DVD+R is the more reliable format for the in-car system. I'll buy a pack and retry.

Worst case Sumvision do a portable player that is powered from USB so the problem may go away with another bit of hardware, but I do hate giving up!

Still not getting any joy. Tried every different type of DVD disc - DVD-R, DVD+R, DVD-RW etc. and none play in the car. All play fine on other DVD players around the house.

I did buy a portable sumvision player that plays DIVX via an SD card (powered from a USB 12V connector) with composite outputs via the RSE red/white/yellow inputs but that's a real faff.

Finally got the garage to log a technical query with Volvo support so we'll see what happens.

Hello Bosworth, +R DVD's work fine in mine, but some brands were a bit more sensitive than others ... I tend to use RITEK manufactured disks and have had no problems.

Brands (you need to check,) I use TRAXdata and Verbatim with no problem

Hope it helps

Thank you. I'll buy a box and see what happens!

Out of curiosity, what software do you use to burn them?

Hello Bosworth, I use DVD Decrypter (old but still works well) to, ..... ahem, make them "archivable," then burn with Nero Platinum.

Hope it helps

Edit ... just looked at the ones I've been using most recently and they are Infiniti Professional DVD+R (they are Ritek disks according to the code on CDVDinfo from my Plextor burner.)
