It is a recent announcement so I doubt you will get any feedback. For my specific tyres, my local Kwik-Fit was cheaper. Buy online though for savings.

Just been on a long trip with my newly fitted Vredestein wintrac extremes on normal alloys. No extra road noise and noticably better grip in the wet and packed leaves up north. Hardly even noticed the flooded roads in the lakes the tyres just cut straight through them and the best bit was sitting at the bottom of the Kirkstone Pass watching a couple of BMW drivers being towed back down as they couldn't get up after 4 to 5 inches of snow and then just ploughing up as if it wasn't there no loss of traction at all. This is early November cant wait for La Nina at its peak next year. Recommend winter tyres for everyone especially when your driving something as heavy as an XC60, your right though-it's the others you need to watch out for!

Default tyres

I got a set of part worn dunlop wintersport 3d,s put on a spare set of wheels I had.all tyres have at least 6mm of tread left.never used winter tyres before so hoping to notice the difference this winter. The "tank" (850 estate) felt quite scary last winter.

You will notice the difference very quickly -and you don't need snow or ice to feel the difference in grip that you get. One frosty morning will make you wonder how (or why) you drove without them

I lived in Norway for the last 2 years and winter tyres were essential. They make a huge difference (used on an XC70 and an XC60). I used Yokohama Ice Terrain studless tyres. In terms of cost you need another set of rims but it halves your tyre wear and and it forces you to rotate your tyres!

I always drove my old Landcruiser on M&S General Grabber's AT2. All season apparantly but you wouldn't know. Absolutely fantastic in the snow. She had the same tyres on her Rav4 and not a problem come anything last winter had to throw at us. The XC70 will be staying with the standard 235/55x17 Pirelli Scorpions, they're barely 1000 miles old and my days of driving in the white stuff for the hell of it are done I think...

Today I fitted the Conti TS 830 P tyres (albeit not to a Volvo) so soon get to try them out on ice and wintry roads.

Although I really hate driving in/on snow, I am dyring to find out how they behave!

Price? About GBP 153 a piece incl VAT (in Germany). Not bad at all (225/45 17)

Default all weather tyres?

Any experience with all weather tyres? Could it be a solution?

Default Studs required

I think studs and skill would be required to get through this.

Couple of inches of snow expected this weekend in London. I need to drive out to Orpington to get a couple of recalls attended to. Should be fun.
