Default 2006 xc70 d5 185 oil breather

Hello all.

I'm struggling to wrap my head around the oil breather system. I was led to believe that my xc70 had the pcv catch box. After looking online and having a mechanic look into it, apparently it doesn't have this, instead it just has an oil separator cap next to the oil filter that act as a crank vent. Is this the case? I'm having the symptoms for the crank breather being blocked but I can't find exactly what to change.

So I got my car back from being at the work yard for a month and I had a look. There is no catch box at the bottom, it is next to the oil filter housing. You can buy the rubber membrane diaphragm for 10-20 from Poland or buy and replace the full unit . I'm not 100% on the fitment but for the price I've ordered the part to try it out.

Did you manage to change the Diaphragm?
