Maybe too late but the cable going to charger is 4 or 5 core it's not normal twin and earth. As well as the power it also has a set of wires for a clamp on the mains tails so if you draw too much power in the house the car charger provides less current to the car. It does this to stop you blowing the main fuse. 7kW charger draws 35 amps ish. Some houses have only 60 or 80 amp main fuse.

A couple of days later Volvo got back to me asking for bank details where the £500 was to be sent. So just waiting for it to be processed. In the meantime I’ve got a quote for the hypervolt fitting and it comes to around £750 after gov grant. But that is with a longer tethered cable. I’m happy to pay a bit more if I get a better end product. Plus depending on colour of the charge point could have it fitted in as little as 2 weeks. |

After I had to ask, they also confirmed that they sort out the cancellation of the Newmotion order. So hopefully in 4 months time, someone doesn't try to install anything extra and want paying for it! |

Thought I’d reply on here about my experience with Newmotion.
Survey completed Mid July with a representative getting back to me 2 weeks later. Communication in September to confirm the chip shortage and to expect a lead time of 4 months. First week of a October I get a call from the EV charger installation company to book me in 15th October. All installed on the 15th with no issues at all. Installer was here about 2 hours in total. My advice is to be patient. They seem to be getting stock much more quickly than they first estimated and the chip shortage doesn’t seem to be as big of a deal as they first anticipated. They usually quote 4-5 weeks from order confirmation anyway so really they are only double this at the moment which is pretty good considering! |
