Hi Mike.
Thanks for the info. I am getting a Vacuum tester later today. So it will be interesting to see what I get. Out of interest where does the air go to if the engine mounts leak? I know the vacuum is sucking but when constanlty taking air from a leaky mount where is this taken? Would this cause possible vacuum premature wear?

Thanks
James

Hi,
After replacing the rear engine mount I connected my vacuum gauge to see whats happening. At the connector on the vacuum pump body, at idle, I get a reading of 70hg at the solenoid for engine mounts i get 70hg which drops straight the way when reves go to approx 1550. At the connector side that leads of to the control arm for the vnt's i get 50hg which lowers as the revs go up. So guess the vac is working well.

One question, The breather out on the turbo governor solenoid (that has the rectangular small filter on it) gives a reading also of 70hg although this is a slow build up on the gauge i.e connect gauge then watch the needle build to 70hg over a couple of seconds. Is this correct?

Car is much smoother on tick over now rear engine pad is replaced. Time taken to replace 1.5hrs start to finish.

Still trying to work out why the D5 still has a slight pause when throttle is applied?

Thanks

James

p.s previous comment i say i sorted rear engine pad. only in that I had capped of air supply!!

Hi to anyone interested.

The slight hesitaition on acceleration was down to a weak fuel pressure regulator on the high pressure pump.
Car is quick to respond to the throttle now.

james

P.s How do you start a post on here maybe I'm being thick !

Are these vac pump easy to replace.....on mine the tapered metal piece that the pipe attaches to is loose and came out....oil everywhere unfortunately......it doesn’t look like it’s broke off but how does it attach or fit in.

Is been a while (4yrs!) since I did this but I don't recall it being at all difficult. Might be a bit fiddly, definitely messy, but not difficult.

As mentioned elsewhere, the piece you're talking about is an interference fit. My guess is that if it's come apart then you won't be able to make a satisfactory long lasting repair.

Not quite sure what that tells me, but I think the pump that came off mine was a duffer.

I'll get a pic of it for comparison and hopefully that will make more sense!
Good evening, thanks for sharing your adventure.
I'm looking for a check valve on this part... Does that say anything to you?
Can we see it on your pictures?
Thanks. Greetings from France.

I don't think there is a check valve, I don't remember there being one anyway.

Outnumbered you sound like a man that would know the answer to my question?
My front lower engine mount is gone but I have plugged it for now to keep vac pressure normal but I'm losing pressure between the pump and the boost solenoid?? Think that's the right name not sure as haven't had the car long
Thanks

If you have the euro4 engine and a manual transmission you could have a leak in the vacuum box of the egr bypass valve.
You can block that one off with no problems the auto gearboxes have none anyway
Its for slightly quicker warming up of the CAT but if its not open the coolant heats up quicker
