Default 2010 Volvo C30 1.6 Drive - engine slightly lupy/rough

Hi everyone

I picked up a Volvo 1.6 Drive a few months ago. It has around 85k on the clock.

Overall it drives quite well, it starts first time, acceleration and fuel consumption seem fine. No smoke, no warning lights on dash.

Service history is good, just two owners, no real advisories on the MOTs and a timing belt change at 84k (June 2020), last MOT and service was in February 2020.

A couple of things I've noticed are:

Now the weather has cooled slightly the engine is a little rough first thing in the morning but this clears up fairly quickly. I drive to work which is around 45 minutes, 30 of which spent on the motorway. By the time I get to work the engine seems absolutely fine.

My return journey takes a little longer due to increased traffic and by the time I am doing stop-start type of city driving (close to home) I notice that the engine is a little lumpy/rough - this happens as I approach the car in front and apply the brakes. Usually by the time the car has come to a complete stop, the engine idle has returned to normal. The car in front moves a little more, I follow and it does the same, and again, and so on. I can put the car in to neutral, let it roll and I still get the roughness until the car
comes to a stop.

These bursts usually last just a few seconds at at time but occasionally it doesn't go away and the rough idle gets a little bit worse even when stationary..

This can clear up by the time I am home but occasionally it is still rough then.

If I leave my car for an hour or so, and I go out again it drives fine.. but after a while I get the same issues. So basically it's a little rough from cold and then again after a journey, and its noticeable in stop start driving as I start to brake towards the car in front (as the car is coming to a complete stop)

The car did come with an "AA Gold" warranty but I haven't tested that yet or know what it covers... (probably not a lot).

Any ideas greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
