Default S60 2015 D4 VEA remapping

Has anyone tried any remap on the D4 VEA engine?
I am thinking of getting the RICA software that puts it up to 231bhp.
Just not sure if the clutch etc will cope with it?

has anybody got any feedback on this?
Excuse me if there is already a discussion on this... I couldn't find one

Rica always seem to extract the most power probably at the expense of higher wear.

Dont forget you could be kissing goodbye to parts of the original warranty in doing the remap. Not sure if there is a polestar map for the d4???

There is a Polestar one, but it is more expensive and only puts it up to 200bhp

I personally would get the polestar as at least you keep all of the warranty no questions what so ever.

Like i thought though rica really do push them still, furthermore the very fact you are nervous about clutch is a sign you are concerned about the future issues possibly caused by having the map from rica.

My local indi runs the RICA map ok on his own car. If you use the extra power though you must expect extra wear obviously. Nothing is for free. The choice is yours. The engine can cope with 500bhp though so no worries about that.

I have stage 1 RICA on my D4 AWD auto, it was done by my Volvo main dealer sold as fully warranty compliant. Very happy with it from memory from 190 bhp to 245 bhp.

Default Warranty compliant: my arse

No software other than that sold by Volvo dealers under the p* brand is 'warranty compliant'

If a Volvo dealer has sold and installed 'rica' software then they are in fundamental breach of their contract with Volvo UK.

It would make matters far worse for them if they had used their vida system to overcome Volvo's PINCODE BANDITRY that they have in the past enforced with a very heavy hand in respect of non franchise dealers thought by them to by circumventing their illegal pincode system.

Their only other way of installing this software is by removing the ECU, opening it and addressing it directly.

The dealer has lied to you, if you had a problem and took your car into another dealer they would certainly blow the whistle and this dishonesty would see the modifications registered on Volvo's mainframe system thus voiding your warranty and in the future that extant warranty that you might think would pass to another owner.

I have just had some priceless feedback from a programmer re RICA/Polestar.

My experience since the first post has been rather negative on RICA's side. They have still not got back to me to say if they can do the map without sending my ECU off to Holland.... not something I am going to risk.
The guy I have spoken to used to deal with RICA and what he says stacks up; they don't respond, in the worst case for him, after the flywheel went as a direct cause of the RICA over-mapping. Also their figures don't come out on a dyno, and they try to say it is the dyno that is wrong!!

The Polestar maps are very good and you don't invalidate warranty. They are far more realistic, and actually give a good performance.
I negotiated with my dealer and got the Polestar for £670 - only £72 more than Rica and you have the peace of mind of your warranty, if there is any software upgrades you keep your map etc. No brainer

In real life, one of my mates has a Golf GTI, and there isn't much between them at all now.
