Unlock Issue 2008 XC70
My mom has a fairly new to her 2008 Volvo XC70. We had an issue with the key fob no unlocking the door. We replaced the key battery, and it still would not work. The manual key would also not unlock. We called a locksmith to get her in that time and yesterday we went to the dealership to get a new key made. The new key worked great as did the old one since they cleaned the connections. Used multiple times yesterday with no trouble. Both keys. This morning, same issue. It will not unlock at all. What is going on?? Any suggestions? The red dash light is blinking, is that normal or is the security system triggered in some way? Thanks for any suggestions. I called the dealership and they just said to bring it in again (over an hour from home).

Do you know any radio hams or can get a cheap amateur radio? Tune the radio to 433.925 mhz, turn off the squelch so you've got white noise and press buttons. If you hear a chirp or beeping on the radio, the keyfob is working fine. The issue is possibly with the car.
The cars deadlock so chances are the unlock won't work on the door. Other thing is, the driver door lock unit isn't reporting back as being "locked" does the door pin sink right down or does it duck down a little when locking. |

I think it must be something in the car itself. We got it unlocked and then the key unlock/lock worked a bunch of times in a row. Then I had my sister lock the door manually from inside on the drivers door and it all stopped working again. The key wouldn't unlock the door and for a minute the manual door control would not work either. I am afraid to lock the car at all now, not knowing when the key will open it or not. Do you think it might be something in the drivers door itself or whatever relays the key signal inside the car?

Unsure - check the lock/unlock switches on the front doors. Make sure they're resting central. Or if you suspect those, you could try disconnecting them. Not sure how the car will function with those missing. It will probably flag up a code on vida.

I will check the lock/unlock switches to see if they seem ok. By "resting central" you mean to make sure they aren't stuck? Any reason why the manual door key wouldn't work, and the FOB would work intermittently? Same issue possibly, or two unrelated problems? Thank you.
