Default Latest Sensus update

The November update now out, details here (and of previous versions):

https://www.volvocars.com/uk/support...ftware-updates

You (should) get this at your next service, though if you're more impatient (like me) your friendly dealer can do it at any time.

Note that more and more, some aspects of the update is year specific.

Question

Hi. Can someone please explain what this mean and is it something, which the driver is able to do?

New message that clarifies when calibration of automatic parking brake takes place.

Thank you.

How long does it take at the dealer?

Seems most of the updates exclude XC90

Ps: For my life I cant understand why these can't be an OTA update!

They dont its a typo where XC60/XC60 should mean XC90/XC60

''Applies to the XC60/XC60 B4/B5 from and including model year 2020: A battery symbol has been added in the driver display in order to indicate when the car is regenerating.''

my understanding is that the Sensus system was not reliable enough to allow OTA updates (danger of causing the car to stop working) hence has to be done at the dealer. I think the XC40 Electric from next year will be by OTA, and I'd assume all new models from then on.

On the detail for each update, unless otherwise specified (eg: 2018 models on) it applies to all models/years.

Aah, I see. Thanks for the clarification! I had my Intellisafe done this morning not sure this would have been requirement for that to be updated! Otherwise, I am sure they'd want another £75!

I had another mail shot through the post today about the intellisafe update and interestingly it says "Recommended retail price £75" so there is some haggle room with it if anyone can be bothered to haggle, might be worth doing so if getting other work carried out.

Love it when you visit the dealer to have something fixed and ask for the software update, and they say no saying it's only done when you have an actual service, which is like 300 days away
Pfft.

You can ask for the latest software update at any time but the dealer will make a charge if you ask for it outside of a service. There's a cost associated with software updates which is covered by the cost of the service. Outside of a service software updates apparently cost around £65.
