Aircon
Hi,
The aircon on my Volvo S40 is having a leak from the aircon unit. I tried to find the leak a couple of times with different garages and they didn't find any leak in the aircon pipes. They just refilled the gas which lasted only for two days. After that a local garage managed to find the leak is in the aircon unit itself and they suggested to replace the aircon unit. Their estimated price was £800. I would like to know your expert opinion regarding the aircon unit replacement and how much you will be charging if it needs replacement. Any help will be much appreciated. Thank you, Ajith Nair |

I am assuming by aircon unit, you mean the aircon high pressure pump that is driven by the auxiliary belt. If yes, then £800 is quite high. It is fairly easy to replace from under the car. So it shouldn't take more than an hour to do and then fill the aircon up. You can get a good second ac compressor for £40-£50
What is your car? Year, engine size? Petrol or diesel?
