Default Tailgate issues

Hi, my first post so please bear with me. I have a 2010 XC70 D5 SE that the alternator belt went on, I had all the faults come up etc. and it flattened the battery, after a new Volvo belt was fitted a charged battery was put on whilst mine was recharged, no problem. Since the change of the last battery the tailgate will not open, its as if it is locked, it is an electrical option that can be operated from within the car or the key fob, we also cannot find any manual release catch. Can somebody help please... Thank you in advance.

I would dis-connect the battery for a minute or two then re-connect. Electronics can get hung-up and need a reboot.

once you unlock the car with the fob the tailgate should be unlocked too , could be a coincidence that the switch on the handle is faulty .

Are you sure that you have not locked the glove box? The tailgate can only be opened by hand when glove box is locked.
