Headlight system service required?
Just did a 7hr drive on our return from a long weekend and got this message half way through the trip. It was getting dark when it popped up so headlights were on (bending headlights feature on as always..) and they remained fully functional. After it came up I turned the bending headlight feature off and continued - message was stored in the message center. First stop- I turned the car off - and when I turned it on - no alert in the driver screen - and the stored message was gone from the message center (?!). All was normal for the rest of the trip - the warning never returned. Wtf?!
I’m thinking this is probably the car warning me to pay for the extended warranty 😁 since I decided to keep it for another year (or until Covid-19 disappears - whichever comes first 😂 )

Did you go over any bumps/potholes while the lights were on? I went across a set of traffic lights the other day at speed and the ruts in the tarmac (main road) were perpendicular to my road causing quite a bit of jolting and a couple of seconds later I had a headlight error which stayed on until I got home. The headlights stayed on but did not bend. Next day everything was back to normal. I think the shakes freaked the sensors out and the system shut down for self protection.

No, I was on a highway - so literally no bumps at all. Also, maybe half an hr prior to the warning I had hit some serious rain (and I’ve seen some posts online about rear wheel slippage being the culprit of this error..) but when I got the message it was dry, smooth highway drive.. Weird. And it hasn’t returned since.

I had this same issue recently, it disappeared when the car was restarted too.

I did my annual service- no errors/codes were detected and techs examined the headlights and found no issues - so my guess is it was just a glitch, maybe caused by a dirty windshield (camera) or similar.

Hi,
I have same problem on my XC90 D5 y.2015. Firstly it was not often, bending didn´t work few kilometers etc, after engine restart it started bending correctly, but now after half year they don´t bend anymore without any error message, just don´t turn and shadowing is not working too. Only fog lighting to curves is working. Any hint whats could be wrong? Thanks.
