Default Clicking noise when turning right

Hi,

Took the bus in for the wheel bearing to be replaced today and now this is fixed the garage have noticed a strange clicking noise when turning right. It's only when turning right and, if you turn the engine off whilst continuing to turn with the momentum the noise disappears. Turn the engine back on and the clicking starts again. Guessing this is most likely an engine issue?

Any ideas? the garage have checked the normal issues for anything obvious but couldn't see anything!

Nickd

That sounds like a CV joint to me and there will be a difference with the engine off as no driving force is being exerted on it.

Tie that in with the fact that is the very area that they have been working and it makes it all the more a probability.

Is it possible the garage had to put some heat on the bearing area and this has damaged the CV joint??

Just a thought

Cheers

Or they hammered the axle end really hard to release it from the bearing, and damaged the CV.

Or the new bearing is bad, or the axle bolt not properly installed, but you normally only get one click from that. If it is going click-click-click as you turn, it's the CV.

Hi,

The wheel bearing was n/s and the noise comes from the O/S. Could they still be related?

Are you sure this is not simply a cracked and ring touching the abs sensor?

That's what caused mine.

Simple to see if you lift front wheel and look at the teeth on abs ring as you turn wheel.

It could be that play in the bearing allows touching when turning..

Just a thought.

Thanks for all the replies.

I’ve tried to record the noise and uploaded to YouTube https://youtu.be/jZ5G4w8pQXw

Hope this helps...
