Default No Audio sound on xc90 after changing the CEM and ECM

Hello
I recently changed the CEM and ECM on my volvo xc90 following a no crank problem it had. With the replacement of the new CEM and ECM the infotainment system has lost audio. The system shows power is received and I can select between FM and CD but the volume still remains on mute. Does anyone have an idea what this issue could be? I have experimented by putting back the old CEM and audio sound comes back on and radio plays fine. Unfortunately the car wouldn't work with the old CEM.

I’d be suggesting you need to get your original CEM repaired (or possibly cloned), could it just be a relay that needs changing? Need to look at a wiring diagram.

The CEM is the central brains of the car
It contains the VIN, the vehicle configuration, the mileage and much more.

Did you fit a brand new virgin CEM, and then have it programmed by the dealer?

If you fitted a 2nd hand CEM from another car, then you now have a VIN mismatch between the CEM and the rest of the vehicle.

Certain units like the audio system are VIN-matched for security purposes. The audio cannot work in another car with another VIN.

If the CEM from another car with another VIN was fitted, this activates the audio system security function and the audio system is disabled.

Solution: find a company that can clone the old CEM flash memory to the new CEM. Once cloned, the new CEM is identical to the old CEM.
