Default C70 Hood Won't Lower

I inadvertently started this thread in the V70 forum. My daughter has a C70 on which the hood wouldn't raise/lower on the button and the warning beeper is constantly sounding. The car is located in France and a local mechanic removed a fuse or relay from under the dash on the drivers side footwell. Now the beeper has stopped but the windows and radio don't work either. Unfortunately the mechanic put the fuse/relay in his pocket and didn't show her where it came from. Ive got a picture of where we think it came from but don't know what goes in there. Once we have replaced the fuse/relay can look at why the hood wont raise/lower on the button. All a bit vague but this is all I have.

Go here and enter the details of the car, then pull up the fuses section and it will tell you what goes where.

Enter the correct year.

If he's been under the bonnet it's #15 or 16.

If he's been in the dash it's probably 63.65.(66 Favorite).81.82.83 one of these will be the missing one.

Thanks for the link. The manual shows the top side of the fuse boxes but the mechanic took the fuse/relay from the underside of the engine bay fusebox which is accessible from the drivers side footwell.

You'll need a Volvo dealer quick if that's the case as only they or perhaps a Haynes manual will have the diagrams for the underside of the box.

Hi Marvel,

What year C70 is this? Very different on or before 2005, vs after 2005.
There is a different section of the forum for post 2005.

Hope that helps,
Steve

Don't forget that the hood will only operate if the car is on level ground with the handbrake on and in neutral (manual) or in park if an automatic*.

Re: the constant ping of the warning alarm - the alarm sounds if the cycle of opening/closing is prevented by * above.

The ping will also sound if any one of the hood sensors remains in the on (1) position or if any of the window sensors are in the off (0) position and cannot lower the windows in order to enable either the lowering or raising of the hood i.e. the hood cannot be raised or lowered if the windows cannot be lowered

I'm told this can happen if the locating plastic bracket of one of the sensors has broken which causes the switch to remain in whichever position it was when the bracket failed.
