Default EGR Recall done at 2nd service

I've no had any EGR issues at 2 years old and 9500mls.

had 2nd service done today and they did EGR recall work while it was in, under warranty which I had to sign for.

don't know what it involved but certainly no alteration to hoses, still has T piece.

receptionist thought it was a software change ? but I can't see that ?

any ideas re what it would be ?

Iain

Yes it would be a software update for the operation of the EGR Valve .

As clan said ^^^

Expect your engine light to come on with blocked cooler in next few weeks they usually do after software update

Clan, as I've not had any problem with the EGR would they not have been better not touching it ?

also do you know what difference to the operation of the valve the updated software makes ?

Iain

Just read the above, What was/is this recall please? I have had my car for 3 years and haven't had a recall notice. I shall be putting my car in for it's 3rd service shortly, will whatever this recall is be done then?

Just yesterday had my 54k service and in the handover chat with the service manager, nothing was mentioned about an EGR / software fix.

Any outstanding recall is done on a service ... , The latest EGR software is also included in the service software .

My understanding is that the software is updated every service on every car and that is the reason it should always go to a main dealer. My indi did mine on my previous V40 and got told off by Volvo.

My XC60 certainly is always updated each time and I have to reset the settings because they don't always reset it back to how I have it.
