Default Abs module fault. Any help appreciated

Recently when breaking at low speed my 56 plate volvo s40 would lock up slightly. After it spending 2 days in a garage I was told there was no fault then I got to the end of the road the same problem. I then got a diagnostic done and was told its the brake control module.the only problem I have is there is no abs light coming on when this happens I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem. Thanks in advance for any help.
