Just a number on the recommended works sheet, no even sure it included vat.

To give them credit, the guy looked embarrassed

That seems a bit high; my dealer replaced rear pads on my (previous) XC60 for around £200 - which still seemed a bit steep TBH.

The best price I’ve seen for rear pads for an XC-60 was during the Black Friday ECP sales. They did a standard set of the Brembo pads for a V70 which are identical pads and bolts, just different springs as the V70 discs were solid and the XC-60 vented. If you clean and re-use the existing spring clips, this would result in a bargain of rear XC-60 pads for £18.

Surely that a quote for pads and discs? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Genuine-V...8AAOSwPk1d378Z

Volvo pads only + fittinghttps://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Genuine-V...4AAOSwwlJd1-AP

Considering the charge out rate for a Volvo technician to perform such jobs is in the region of £100+ per hour.

I paid £179 all in for an XC90 rear pads replaced, inc parts labour and VAT. I think your quote is about £100 too much.

Wow, that's steep !

I bought genuine rear discs and pads from a dealer on ebay. Once I discovered the potential issues I might face doing them myself I approached my local Volvo Specialist. It not the normal done thing to supply your own parts, but the end result was me was paying £303 all in including the parts delivery cost, garage labour and vat.

Quite happy with that.

That's a ridiculous price for the pads only.

At least £100 over priced, pads are around (£80 dealer full price) + one hours labour max.
I can change both side rear pads in about 40 minutes without hoist or special tools, they should be able to do them quicker so one hours labour should be the maximum.

XC60 (will be 3 years old from new in July, 21K on the clock), was informed by the main dealer that the rear pads are very close to fully-worn, front pads 50% worn). Was advised replacement of rear pads only; was quoted £192 incl. parts, labour (1hr labour at £108 per hour) and VAT; shook hands at £170. Hope the price is reasonable!!

That sounds about right for genuine parts and a main dealer. I bartered them down to £179 for the XC90 a couple of years back. Other members are quoting around the same price. I think to get cheaper you need to be either doing it yourself or getting an independent to do it.
