Mine is leased as well through volvo car leasing. I had thought about this but I'm getting the car from a main volvo dealership, via volvo car leasing, with a volvo technician fitting a genuine volvo part prior to delivery.......I'm not thinking too much about removing it prior to hand back.

Also, it'd be a peculiar argument to have with the leasing company I.e. They aren't happy because I have asked, as part of the spec for the car they are supplying, if they wouldn't mind taking some more money from me to fit a protection strip to prevent damage to the car?

I suppose the difference is I have not asked for this from the Volvo dealer prior to order, I am also leasing through Volvo. They will want the car returning exactly how it was delivered. The fact that this will protect the car does not work in the world of leasing. Any chance to nit pick or make a few extra pennies in charges. I will speak to them though and see what they say as I agree with you, it is a logical and positive addition to the car. It has to be better than the scratch fest that is my current bumper.

Can't you get the strip removed, vinyl wrapped in the body colour and replaced. Then when returning the car, if it shows scratches get the wrap removed.

I bought the Volvo bumper strip the first week I had the car and it's not really up to much. There's a fold out bumper strip for when the dogs jump in but they miss sometimes and the bumper has been chipped by their claws on the edge that the Volvo accessory doesn't cover.

Hmm, thought that may be the case, any chance you could post a photo up of your strip? i have the fold out cover already but our two dogs are keen to get out sometime and its those times im going to get caught out.

The only other option i had thought of was to use Paint Protection Film on its own or in conjunction with the bumper strip to protect the bit from the back of the strip down vertically towards the road.

You can by PPF yourself but im not sure how professional i could get it to look! Also thought about a Vinyl wrap but wasnt sure how 'puncture proof' it was?

Unhappy

I picked the car up earlier tonight ( first impression is: love it). They hadnt fitted the bumper strip yet and I've decided against it now I've seen the fold over protection flap. I think (hope) it'll be enough but my dog is usually pretty Keen to get out so could be tricky. Just annoying that they have stopped using a good simple product which came in plastic or stainless steel, and replaced it with an inferior one that doesn't cover the lip. ... The most likely bit to get scratched Mmmh!

They seem very expensive for what they are. They look about a £30 piece of kit yet sell for double or treble that.

After inspecting my old car I decided I would go for one of these after all. Some pics attached. I would have preferred something that covered more of the bumper but it is better than nothing.

Did you fit it yourself and if so was it easy? I've ordered one so would be interested to know. To relieve some boredom of my 14 week wait I've started researching, and ordering, accessories like the bumper protector. Looking into boot liners now and other such goodies!
