Smile OSR door trim removal and repair

Hi as this is my first post on this forum, I guess I should introduce myself first :-) My name is Stephen and I live near Coatbridge.
I've just bought my second Volvo - an XC90 SE D5 auto in silver and hope someone can help.

My osr door doesnt open from inside. Thought it was the child lock but inner handle doesnt seem to have any resistance, its as if inner rod to lock has fallen off.
is this a common problem and can anyone offer a solution because I cant see how to remove door panel as no screws or clips visable.
Hope Ive made myself clear, any help would be much appreciated,
Thanks in advance, Stephen.

Hi Stephen, welcome to the forum.

Haven't heard this being a common problem, but I'm sure someone on here will be able to help.

Don't forget to include your model year (MY) just in case it makes a difference.

Prise off the grab handle cover, remove the two screws behind it and pull off the door panel.

Same problem. I took mine apart the other week. You really need a trim removal set; I think it would be quite difficult to remove the trim without as it needs a wide deep lever to get the clips apart. The door handle prises apart; I used a very small screwdriver to get into the gap than pushed a plastic trim lever in. There are two Torx screws behind it, then the panel just levers off.

The handle has a cable with a nipple that fits into a plastic clip. The clip had separated and pushed back in easily - rather too easily, as it came out again within a week - clearly something is not right with it and I'm going to have to have a closer look. I suspect I will have to take the other side off to see exactly how it should go together!

Easy 5 min fix.
Removed cover and two torx screws and trim came of with one good hard pull.
As described above nipple was loose from back of handle and went back on too easy.
If it happens again recon it would be best secured with a small cable tie.
thanks again
