Default '01 speedometer upgrade to a '03

Hi there!

I'm new to the forum and I must say it's been very helpful with different topics.

I'm making some upgrades to my 2.0 standard 2001 S40 and I want to replace the speedometer to a '03 model and I'm just wondering if it's possible? I just think it looks better and has better visibility.

Thank you very much in advance!

Probably possible, but don't expect easy plug and play kind of deal here. The connectors are different and are oriented differently, so prepare to find the pinouts and make some adapter cables.

There might be subtle differences between the signals as well. For example the old P1 panels had the temperature signal as a analog voltage, while newer panels switched to a PWM frequency signal. However this one specifically might not be a problem if you have a 2001 panel now.

As an FYI - I think the 01 cluster can still have the bulbs swapped out for whatever LED flavor you want? The 03/04 clusters have the lights soldered onto the board and you can't swap them very easily or at all without a lot of effort.
