Default fuses

i have a volvo 460 1994 i wanted to cut the power from lights in boot, so i pulled out the orange fuse which is located at number 23 and says normal use, when i went to put it back then start the engine i just got a clicking sound from engine, i must admit that when i went to put it back i did fumble a bit, not sure if this could be a factor? and what does normal use mean? would love an answer . many thanks

Probably just coincidence but make sure you haven't dislodged any of the other fuses. Make sure your battery is charged and the terminals are clean and tight. Check earths and starter terminals. "Normal" fuse? No idea.

the engine worked perfectly before i removed this fuse, all other fuses are well seated, the normal use is printed on the inside of fuse box lid, as is where all the other fuses go. thank you,

Have you got the engine started yet?

That orange "bridge" appears to be a critical item in these cars - I know from experience removing it upsets a few things on my 480 so I haven't yet tried taking it out on the 440!

According to the notes, it is in position 20 when the car is delivered brand new, and is moved to position 23 in order to fully activate the circuits running through fuses 21 & 22.

Might be worth double checking that when you fumbled it putting it back you haven't blown the wire inside the orange bridge itself...
