Default P1800s. It's been a while.

Well still have the 66 p1800s. Every time I come to sell it take it for one last drive. Then I can't part with it. Must be 4 years now since restoration completed. Front of car Inc doors all take back to metal and replacement panels fitted . No rust. The rear seemed very solid and was rubbed down and repainted. Noticed a bit of rust around the rear wheel arches and rear valence. Was never happy with the paint job so decided on repair and repaint. A can of worms was again opened. Very shoddy repair work an loads more rot and rust. 7 new rear body panels now fitted rubbed down , sealed and base coat applied.
Ready for repaint and lacquer. Also having new roof liner installed. I retire in July and want to get some use out of the car. Go to a few shows and enjoy it before selling.
Will always have a classic car but think a 944 s2 would be an easier car to live with. Had them in the past many years ago before they were classics.
Regards Paul

Paul,
It will be interesting to see if you still have a change of heart.
Think back to the key great memories with your car......
I am not saying a 944 is not good, but there are somethings about classics from the 60's that had personality, that for me, is not achieved 20 years on.

Paul,
Just going back into the ether, what wheel and tyre size did you end up with?
I remember you posted quite a bit on this topic back in 2014....

Hi. Will check tomorrow. Going to see car in the morning
I know I bought a full set of tyres that had been purchased 20 years ago for a restoration that never happened. They were still in the original packaging.

Your car will always appeal to those not familiar with the P1800 as well as those old enough to have watched The Saint.
I was asked to show my car as an example of the model in the Practical Classics Magazine, Top 100 Favourite Classics, as voted by readers 4 years ago.
The publication had arranged a photo shoot at Milbrook on their banked circuit.
My car was fairly high on the banking (more than it looks in the photo!) and it was quite difficult to climb out of the driver's door when parked....

Looks great. Same colour as mine. I do not have a sunroof and have standard steel wheels with stainless rings. Looking forward to getting my car back.

The tyre size is 185 / 70 / 15. Not sure if this is standard or not.
It was 7 years ago when I made the decision.
