Default V70 2010 rear quaterlight windows

Hi,

I have just bought a v70 2010 in excellent condition.

The question I have is that the quaterlight windows behind the rear side doors seems to have demister wires in the glass, but they dont demist the windows.

Are they demister wires or not?

Them there quarterlight wires are for the DAB radio antenna. I too thought I had demisters until one frosty day and nothing happened

Hi,

I am now totally confused.

Took my car to an audio dealer and talked about a DAB radio as my radio dont have the function. I told him the aerials are there and when I showed him he laughed and said thats not a DAB aerial. He said look at the tailgate demister and its the same wire type.

So now I dont know what to make of it

Even If your car doesn't have DAB fitted it still doubles up as an AM/FM aerial as per this post https://www.volvoforums.org.uk/showthread.php?p=2180152

Fin on the roof is your GPS receiver for sat nav if fitted.

I believe the connection block to the aerial strips is inside the n/s rear panel In the cargo area. Trace them, unplug the connector, turn on your radio. It won't have a signal. At least then you'll have definitive proof that what you are being advised is correct.

Time for a different audio specialist possibly?

Cheers

Dave

Hi,

Thank you very much Dave.

I have booked it in with another radio specialist.

Your advice and guidance is much appreciated as well as the other forum link.

Eddie :-)

Hello Eddie

No worries that's what these forums are for, helping folks when the "specialists" they visit don't meet the mark.

Have you thought about one of these? https://www.pure.com/uk/car-audio/in-car-dab-adapters

You could then leave the existing sound system in situ but gain the DAB channels plus Bluetooth phone capability.

Cheers

Dave

They are aerials not necessarily DAB but any wave length FM /AM . They look like heater elements but are aerials .At the bottom of the glass you might see a couple of snap fasterners to connect the aerial to the system These were undone when I bought my P2 and had poor radio reception . I reconnected them and radio was fine .
I would go to a different "Radio specialist " he obviously doesn't know his cars so god knows what damage they might do if allowed to do any work in your vehicle .
