Well, I think you're right. There are several options though (this is the 16 rows one) probably it should be tested.

The other thing I am not so sure about is the filter which seems a very good idea as it would clean the oil to a point when it clogs up and then it would be the end of the story...

Default D5 auto gearbox build change

Hi - my 2004 XC70 has done 128k miles and from what I see has never had the auto gearbox build changed perhaps due to the only if used for towing clause. The question for me is should I change it now and what the benefit would be or should it now be left undisturbed as its too late. I understand if its not been changed before now it could now cause problems changing it but part of me also thinks the if I am only changing 3 litres of it that would perhaps help for the future - your advice please

these are my thoughts too.. mine has done 116k. I bought it off the original owner 4 years ago on 80k and I fitted a towbar for my caravan. I am as confident as I can be it has never been touched before.

Change it. My preference is to do the full fluid change but if you are hesitant just do a dump and fill and see how it goes. For what its worth, I'm 3 for 3 with changing waaaay past the recommended mileage. Never a single issue encountered.

I think the TF80 is an improved box, mines done big miles with little care.

That's odd - my '2007' S60 Geartronic is a 6 speed TF80SC.

Maybe at the time there was a choice of 5 or 6 speed.
